unfortunately, I can no longer recommend shopping there to anyone.
Why are animals treated like this?
I can't understand why birds, rabbits & Co like are caged in a very confined space, sitting in their own faeces and then with curious people harassing the animals by knocking on the window or shaking the cage (see picture). How disrespectful is that towards these creatures?
Regardless of the fact that this type of animal husbandry is absolutely moronic, there was the same problem in the aquarium department. Fish are generally a NO GO in the aquarium, just like birds, which fly freely and should not waste their lives in a cage that is far too small.
But let's get back to the fish. The aquariums are totally dilapidated (see picture), too many fish, some so big that they only swim in one place, in aquariums that are too small. What a life!

Then I see a fish swimming in the corner of one of the aquariums. But it no longer looks normal. It no longer has a tail fin. It has been bitten off by another fish. The fish that has bitten off the fin of the fish swimming in the corner is permanently suppressing this fish in the corner, which can no longer be saved. I suspect the fish didn't make it because of the lack of care and ultimately because of the oppression from the other fish (see picture). Without an aquarium, life could have been different for this creature, better.

What does it actually look like when customers come to you and entrust you with the lives of their animals? Is there any kind of check on what the customer has at home and can offer the animal? Are these people even able to treat these animals "well"? Is your staff even trained for this? How do you reconcile this with your conscience?
It doesn't seem to me that much importance is attached to this at the moment. And the animals pay with their lives.

I normally love going to the Tuincentre because they have beautiful plants and decorations, but after seeing this, I will avoid this shop in future. Unless the day comes when you, as employees, make sure that such unnecessary things are abolished. Then I'll be happy to come back.

Next time when you go to Tuincentre have a look to these creatures deep in their eyes. And after that tell me again that they‘re happy.
